Since LEGOLAND was opened in the town of Günzburg (Günzburg vacation rentals | Günzburg travel guide) in Bavaria in May 2002, the theme park has established itself as one of the four most popular parks in Germany. The LEGOLAND grounds are as large as 26 football fields and are divided into eight themed areas. The park is usually open to the public between 10am and 6pm from mid April until mid November every year.
LEGOLAND is mainly aimed at children between the age of three and 13, but of course also adults will have a good time there. Most parents appreciate the mix of fun, wholesome entertainment and playful learning opportunities, the unique LEGOLAND concepts offers. The park features more than 50 attractions, like exciting rides and enchanting underwater worlds, and impressive models built with more than 50 million LEGO bricks. Additionally, kids can get really hands—on and build their own fairy tale castles in various LEGO workshops.
The centerpiece of LEGOLAND is MINILAND, in which alone 25 million LEGO pieces were used to create a stunningly realistic model of famous European cities and landscapes at a scale of 1:20. LEGO CITY is another themed area, you shouldn’t miss out on. Here little visitors can see how LEGO bricks are made and even take one of those brand—new bricks home with them as a souvenir. It is also the home of the so—called HERO Factory. As its name might tell, it is the wildest ride in the whole park and only suited for the bravest among you. Kids can take a ride in a passenger robot and twirl through the air in all directions with 360˚ spins and loops. Other themed areas are the Entrance with its majestic LEGO towers, IMAGINATION with its build and test center, LEGO X—Treme, which includes an underwater world inhabiting more than 2000 sea creatures of all kinds, the Knight’s Kingdom, which is an amazing playground for very young children, Adventure Land, where you can go on a safari tour or do a jungle expedition, and finally Pirate Land, where kids can playfully test their seafaring skills.
Should you want to spend more than one day in this theme park, it might be fun to stay overnight at the LEGOLAND Holiday Village. 72 Egyptian—themed holiday cottages are situated on a beautiful lake and waiting for your arrival. Adventure playgrounds, a kid’s cycle course and a pirate—themed bowling alley keep your children entertained, when the actual theme park is already closed.
